PATRICIA PEERZADA (SEHAR)

is originally from Washington, D.C., and an alumnus of both Howard University and The Rhode Island School of Design, Patricia Peerzada maintains a private studio in Glenn Dale, Maryland where she designs wardrobes and gowns for private clients. She shows her line to wholesale buyers and designs costumes for performers such as "Sweet Honey in the Rock" and theatrical productions, most recently "Dreamgirls", and special projects for Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery and other organizations.

Patricia's love for creating one-of-a-kind wearable art clothing led her to seek control of not only her clothing shapes but the prints as well. Block printing using hand carved wooden blocks to apply the pattern became her chosen medium. Patricia selects the designs for the blocks from traditional sources around the world. She "paints" with the blocks often using rigid repeat patterns or non-symmetrical random patterns.

The line has been carried in stores such as Nordstrom, Toast and Strawberries and Kine Bis in the D.C. area and others throughout the country. Her work has been featured in magazines and newspapers internationally including The Washington Post, Ebony, Upscale, Dubai Times, Pakistani Glamour, Essence and the bookThreads of Time the Fabric of History by R.Reed-Miller.
